Sculpture - Bronze Sirena

Sculpture - Bronze Sirena
This is a large, bronze mermaid sculpture to be used as an offering bowl statue. This mermaid was made in Indonesia. The elegant mermaid holds a large clamshell bowl and pearl. Some folk beliefs assert that sirena are the spirits of fisherfolk and those who care for the ocean. Much older beliefs point to the rich, elaborate underwater world of beings that our ancestors had mutual beneficial relationships with for thousands of years.
In Indonesia, locals in communities along the seashore praised Nyai Roro Kidul, the Queen of the Southern Seas, and other “princesses” of the sea. Their folk beliefs about mermaids are tied to the ancient Assyrian goddess Atargatis (Syria). It is believed that all mermaids descend from this great sea and moon fertility goddess. Nyai Roro Kidul is still celebrated and venerated in many parts of Indonesia.
Trinidad enchanted and consecrated this sculpture for use as a talisman using potent Water Serpent Dharma sorcery at the Dragon Mountain monastery in California under the full moon. Its owner should be a devotee of sirenas, nagas, or other sea goddesses.
